Tankless Water Heater

Buying guide for gas and tankless hot water heater

Why Purchase a Tankless Water Heater?

There is a fairly new, innovative product out on the market today called the Tankless Water Heater.  They can be purchased in either a gas system or an electric system, depending on the needs of the consumer. The benefit to this type of water heater is phenomenal.  To purchase a tankless water heater and have it installed may cost the consumer more money initially, however, the money it will save them in the long run will prove to be worth it.

The tankless water heater produces water on demand.  Just a turn of the faucet and the water runs over the elements and reaches the desired temperature and within just a few short seconds, the water is exiting the faucet.  What this means to the consumer is that there is never a shortage of hot water.  The average tankless water heater will produce 500 gallons of hot water in one hour.  Again this is an average.  It will depend on the brand name and the type and size, as well.  The other benefit of having this water on demand is that there is no hot water tank to keep heated.  Thus, resulting in a lower gas or electric bill at the end of the month.   Also, since the tankless water heater does not use cold water to adjust the temperature, water will also be conserved.

Another benefit of the tankless water heater is that is much more safe than a standard water heater tank.  There are thousands of injuries reported each year from scalding hot water temperatures burning adults and children.  With the tankless water heater, the consumer sets the temperature at the desired temperature, and that is where it stays.  Also, water tanks can rupture and leak causing many injuries.  With the tankless water heater there will never be a rupture or leak again.

Because this tankless water heater is about half the size of a regular standard water heater tank, it will save space, too.

As you can see, the benefits of a tankless water heater are numerous.  The price of one is more than the standard water tank, but in the long run it will save the consumer money, not to mention the added convenience.

There are websites out there on the Internet to research the best brand names and sizes.  Also, a person could call their local plumbing business and get some information on the tankless water heater.
